WOMEN IN THE ARTS
2.WOMEN
IN THE ARTS.
BY MAXIMILLIEN DE LAFAYETTE.
Judy
Hintz Cox:
America’s first lady of progressive minimalism.
Cox’s
paintings are elegantly and intelligently composed, structured and balanced,
yet, she is not restrained by an artistic dogmatic analysis.
1.
Renate Aller: BY MAXIMILLIEN DE
LAFAYETTE. She
photographs femme fatales, elegant women, the clouds, inexistent people who
make you think, and the infinity of nothingness. You see it in her shots of
lyrical and nostalgic skies, horizons, clouds, seascapes and ultra modern
installations.
t9.WOMEN GENIUSES OF
DANCE AND BALLET.
BY MAXIMILLIEN DE LAFAYETTE.
The Magical and Surreal World of Theatrical Dance and Ballet...The religions
of ancient Greece and Rome are extinct now, but the gods and goddesses of
Olympus are still vibrant in our dreams and fragile hopes. The sublime deities
came to life through poetry, music and dance. They belonged to literature,
fantasy, art and dance. In the firmament of human imagination, they defined
their divine circle, and continued to hold it within the winds...

ALISON LAPPER.
My Body Is Art! It's been empty
for 150 years. But this week it was announced that the vacant fourth plinth in
Trafalgar Square will be occupied by a 15ft-high nude statue of a pregnant
Alison Lapper. She talks to Hadley Freeman about art, disability and notions
of beauty.

CHEVSKA. Can't Wait (Letters
R.L.), Andrew Mummery Gallery, London, United Kingdom. Awaiting the visitor to
her first solo show in London for almost three years are two significant
developments in Maria Chevska's work. The first is the introduction of objects
into the gallery space, objects that the viewer has to negotiate and which act
as both an aid and a restriction to reading her paintings...

Hottest and Most Talented Women of the Year.
We will always talk about the famous and the rich. Wealth and money are status
symbol. When you have money, people think that you know. When you lose your
assets, social power and position, you become yesterday’s news. You might get
lucky and be remembered here and there, but you are no more a headliner. You
become like Australia. Everybody talks about Australia but nobody wants to
visit Australia.
MODERN
ART IN IRAQ: BY MAXIMILLIEN DE LAFAYETTE. LEADING FIGURES AND
INTERNATIONAL PERSONALITIES:
No country will ever survive if its art dies. it
the proper time to talk about Iraqi modern art amidst the turbulent Iraq
passage toward new political and social metamorphoses? Absolutely, for
nations were initially born through the original expressions of individual and
shared feelings, ideas, concepts and ideologies transmitted and illustrated
through the medium of art. Equally true is the survival of nations and the
preservation of their heritage, history and national pride through art in all
its forms and styles.

It
seems
everybody wants to be a jazz singer nowadays. People of all ages turn up at
'open mic' sessions to perform their party piece. But why this sudden eruption
of would-be vocalists? Maybe because singing looks easier than playing an
instrument, although it isn't. Or maybe it's because there are so many good
jazz singers in Britain to inspire them. There's Stacey Kent, Tina May, Claire
Martin, Clare Teal, Barb Jungr, Anita Wardell, Sheena Davis...

WORLD OF CABARET: AMERICAN MUSIC AND THE BIRTH OF
CABARET

FROM
THE EARLY JAZZ ERA TO PRESENT.
BY MAXIMILLIEN DE LAFAYETTE.
Artists,
performers, entertainers, musicians, composers and singers of yesteryears and
at the dawn of American music were so different from those who came to the
scene of the modern American music of the 20th and 21st
centuries. The music was real musical composition, no Rap crap and heavy metal
distorting noises. The lyrics were simple, evocative, poetic and polite and
consequently, songs could be sung by all generations and audiences of all
ages. The musical productions were either super extravaganzas or daringly
intimate and sentimental.
t11.UNDISCOVERED
GREAT TALENTS: DIVAS IN THE MAKING.
It is not an easy task to write about
Sophia Dalle, nor to engage into a dialogue with this macabre and translucent
Diva in the making. She lives in a world we are familiar with, and in a cosmos
where only most daring thoughts, phantasmagoric visions and idealism blend and
fade in. She is idealistic, a spiritual chic and abundant with
multidimensional musical talent. She interrupts you all the time, she rushes
to freeze and free words of wisdom, you wish you could totally understand, and
she challenges your intellect, even though, she disdains ivy league cum laude
graduates who analyze everything in life.

CABARET: BY
MAXIMILLIEN DE LAFAYETTE. NEW YORK
CITY- Her October cabaret show at Joe's Pub in New York City was a smashing
success. Barb Jungr took New York and the audience by storm. Listening to her
albums is a delight. But, seeing her performing on stage is the ultimate
musical treat and an experience at many levels, not to miss. From her very
first song to Waterloo Sunset, her international hit, Barb Jungr shined
brighter than midnight sunset, enrobed with a femme fatale aura, a sensual
intellectualism and the implosion of a dignified femme fatale. Her show was a
sort of a tribute to Bob Dylan. She sang his biggest hits, her style and her
way and she excelled. But, when she delivered Jacques Brel's "Ay Marieke,
Marieke", the audience went wild. She mesmerized the hell out of them.

t1.Lyne
Tremblay BY MAXIMILLIEN DE LAFAYETTE . She is de facto, Canada's most
sophisticated, elegant and captivating cabaret Diva and "Femme Fatale".
Her voice is an explosion and implosion
of warmth, vocal virtuosity, seduction, truthful inner feelings and a magical
"Un Je Ne Sais Quoi?". You look at Lyne and the scent of a Parisian Diva of La
Belle Epoque or "Les Annees Folles" breath over you. You look at Lyne

Whitfield made her own rules and enlarged the perimeter of
performance excellence by sculpting an almost perfect sense of phrasing
which magically and very tenderly
reached the hearts and souls of multi-varied and demanding audiences. She
brought to the traditional world of cabaret music, a very intimate, warm,
pensive and personal musical and vocal interpretation which defied
conventionalism. This delightful defying and charmingly innovative creativity

WORLD-CLASS TALENTS:
BY MAXIMILLIEN DE LAFAYETTE.
SOFIA LAITI.
ysterious American chanteuse Sofia Laiti is making
a big buzz with her recently released CD YOU DON'T KNOW ME, her debut
recording of European and American cabaret repertoire. I just said Cabaret
Debut, not a singer career debut, because she has already 3 CDs to her
credit. She has been classically trained, but for some reasons, she decided
to become a jazz singer. A short biography by Alex Henserson in All Music
Guide sheds a light on the background of this singer...

150.THE
ESSENTIALS: THE BEST CABARET MUSIC AND SONGS CDs:
BY MAXIMILLIEN DE LAFAYETTE.
The ESSENTIALS are those CDs or recordings which
are looked upon as major, important and most significant for the genre per se.
Cabaret is my forte. Cabaret music is my favorite topic. And I will writing
about it, and about the best cabaret CDs of recent years; CDs of American
Cabaret singers and songwriters. Unquestionably, the greatest non Parisian,
non ethnically French Cabaret singer in the world and outside France is
RAQUEL BITTON who currently lives in California...

NEW RELEASES & REVIEWS:
Bjork has said she finds her best, most loved music has been the songs she was
selfish in making. On her latest, the Icelandic chanteuse has cast out even
the instruments. Bjork's seventh album, Medulla, which refers to the spinal
cord in Latin, gets to the heart of the marrow, so to speak...IBob Marley is
reggae's king, Jimmy Cliff is its prince. The veteran Jamaican singer has the
royal lineage. He started his career in the early '60s ska scene in Kingston
while still a teenager and has grown along with the music through its many
permutations...And much more...
155. CABARET: MEET THE QUEEN OF GREAT BRITAIN'S CABARET. BARB JUNGR. BY MAXIMILLIEN DE LAFAYETTE
Diva Barb Jungr is a living
legend. She is larger than life on stage. She is witty, captivating, warm and
boiling with musical lava and unsurpassed vocal virtuosity. An English woman
who sings like real, real, real Parisian cabaret singers? Like Piaf, for
instance? Not really. Perhaps much better, because he is happier than those
stuffy melodramatic French singers who complicate your life. French cabaret is
intense because it is drama. Jungr's cabaret is happy, vivacious, filled with
joy and hope. They compared her to Ute Lemper, Juliette Greco and Edith Piaf.

had fewer role-models, but then along came Jamie Cullum whose career received
a mighty boost when he was signed by Universal.
